Heart to Heart Birthday Card

I recently purchased the Heart to Heart Background stamp by Simon Says Stamp!.  I could not wait to use it.  I knew I wanted to do some ink blending so I stamped with VersaMark onto Bristol Smooth cardstock.  I sprinkled with clear embossing powder.  The lines of the hearts turned out gray instead of clear since I previously used this stamp with black ink and did not get the stamp completely clean before using it on this card.  I liked the way it turned out. I used a combination of 4 different Distress Oxide Inks and blended them together.  I splattered the background with water drops and let them completely dry while I worked on the rest of the card. For the sentiment, I cut a heart out of metallic silver paper using a heart die cut.  I used a strip of paper left over from cutting down the ink blended background.  On this strip, I stamped the sentiment using Word-Fetti stamps from Recollections.  I added a small heart from the Really High Five stamp set by Lawn Fawn. I cut the backgro

Happy Birthday

There are some layouts that bring about a high level of frustration for me and this is one of them.  This simple layout took me hours to complete.  I struggled with the placement of the photos and kept rearranging them over and over again.  I had a paper pack but no coordinating embellishments other than a few stickers.  I don't like for my layouts to have a lot of dimension, but the only embellishment I could find in my stash was some Momenta puffy stickers.  I am still not 100% satisfied with this very plain layout, but I don't want to spend any more time on it. I know this is all part of the creative process which is why I chose to keep this layout in the blog.  Perhaps I will come back to this one at a later date and redo it or add to it.  Feel free to comment and add your suggestions for improving this layout. College Visit

My oldest daughter will be a senior next year and is in the process of determining where she wants to go to college.  Last summer, we booked a tour of UGA so that she could check out the school and get a baseline of what a college campus is like.  I wanted this page to be simple and display the UGA logo and colors.  I uploaded and cut the UGA logo using my Cricut.  I wanted the title to represent a school-like text so I settled on the High School font found on dafont.com. Easter 2019

I am the kind of scrapbooker who will spend hours trying to find coordinating papers from my stash and then several more hours trying to make them all work together.  Using a paper collection with its coordinating ephemera pack helps minimize the time I spend creating layouts.  I wanted to get last year's Easter pictures scrapbooked before another Easter comes and goes.  I grabbed a couple of Echo Park spring collections to help me quickly scrapbook last year's Easter photos.  I combined the stickers from the paper kit and a few ephemera pieces from another collection to embellish the page. Forever Young

This layout was taken of my daughter on the day of the district science fair.  This would be her 3rd time attending the science fair, however, this layout is not about the science fair.  Instead, it is about the outfit switcheroo she pulled on her mother that day. I wanted a layout that would showcase her teenage antics so when I found the Project Life paper in the Azure collection that had the words "Forever Young" I knew it would be a perfect fit for these photos. I used several of the papers in the Azure collection.  I cut the butterflies and heart from some of the journaling cards from the Project Life Azure Core Kit to embellish the page.  The title was also cut from one of the 4X6 journaling cards. My Boys

This layout of my husband and son was made with a collection I have been holding onto for many years.  I love these papers and wanted to showcase many of them by layering them throughout the layout.  I also used my Cricut to cut stars and circles out of the paper scraps.  All pieces were inked with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink to make them stand out amongst all the different patterns. Off the Grid

This layout features my husband and oldest daughter.  They took off for the day to visit Ruby Falls located in Helen, GA.  This layout gave me a chance to break out a very old Scenic Route collection. I wanted to use up as much as I could of this collection so I layered up several scraps of patterned paper.  I fussy cut some flowers and leaves from a couple of scrap papers I had in my stash.  All paper pieces were inked up with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink.  I searched for a hiking font on dafont.com  and ended up using the Hitch Hike font to create the title.
