BEWARE

Today's Halloween card was inspired by @jenniferosnyder.  I saw her Halloween card containing a tombstone shaker element and I wanted to combine that idea with the mummy from Tim Holtz's Costume Party Colorize die set.   I adhered a piece of purple patterned paper to a black card panel.  The black panel was adhered to a white card base.  I used my Cricut machine to cut small, medium, and large-sized tombstones.  Each tombstone was inked with Hickory Smoke and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks.  The large tombstone was turned into a shaker element containing a combination of black bat sequence, a Halloween glitter mix, and black Diamond Dots.   The mummy was made from a variety of cream and tan cardstock.  I inked several of the pieces with Vintage Photo Distress ink.  I had some issues assembling the head, so I cut part off the top and salvaged what I could without having to start over.  The "fix" actually added to the overall loo...

Just Floating By

Today's flat shaker card features the "Make Yourself at Home" Cardmaking Kit for August 2021, a HeroArts Kit that is a Joann.com exclusive. This is the second card I have made from this fantastic card kit.  I combined the kit with the flat shaker card technique inspired by @amyrysavy. To create the background I used the Hero Arts blending brush included in the kit to blend the four reactive inks onto white cardstock. I used Versamark ink to stamp the images from the Need a Hand stamp set.  I embossed the stamped images with black embossing powder.  To color the ocean creatures and sea weed, I smeared the reactive inks onto a craft mat and used a water brush pen to watercolor the embossed images. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the stamped images. I used liquid glue to adhere the stamped images to the ink blended background.  I used Versafine Onyx Black ink to stamp the sentiment onto the background. To create the flat shaker element of the card,  I wrapp...

Glimmer Hot Foil Birthday Cards

Today's cards are part of my stash-busting series.  This is where I look around my craft room and grab a bunch of supplies that I haven't yet had the chance to use.  The results yielded two glimmer hot foiled birthday cards. I used the smooshing technique to apply Mustard Seed and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide inks onto white card panels.  After the panels were dry, I used the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System along with the Scattered Flowers and Diamonetta Background Glimmer plates to add Aura Glimmer Hot foil to the card panels.   The card panels were mounted onto pink cardstock.  I used the same Aura foil to glimmer the Happy Birthday sentiment onto white cardstock.   I cut the sentiment using a Momenta nesting border die.  I used a slightly larger border die to cut a sentiment border from the pink cardstock.  I cut pink and yellow flowers using the Sizzix Spring Things die set.  I ran the flowers and sentiment border through t...

Embossed Shaker Cards

Today's cards focus on using items from my stash.  I wanted to use a variety of supplies in my craft room that I have not yet used or haven't used in quite a while.   I didn't have a plan in mind, but I know I wanted to start by using the WendyVecchi Country Flowers Make Art Stamp, Die, and Stencil set.  I stamped the outlines of the flower, leaves, and butterfly using Versafine Onyx Black ink onto white cardstock.  I filled in the images by stamping with a variety of colors of Memento inks.  I cut out the images using the coordinating dies. I matched the stamped images with different colors of scrap paper. The background panels were embossed using Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folders.  I adhered the back panels to white card bases using double-sided tape.  For the front panel of the shaker cards, I die cut a window out of the cardstock panels using a border die.  I embossed these panels using Cricut Cuttlebug embossing folders.  I us...

Spellbinders Club Kit Valentine's Day Cards

Today's cards feature the Spellbinders January Small Die of the Month and the Glimmer Hot Foil Club Kits.  I couldn't wait to combine these two kits to create some Valentine cards. I used the dies from the Small Die of the Month kit to cut several pieces from pink and white cardstock as well as red and gold foil cardstock.  I used the Glimmer Hot Foil sentiment glimmer plates to glimmer several sentiments in red and gold foil onto white cardstock.  For each card, I glued the decorative frame to a white card base.  I added the smaller die cut panel to the decorative frame. For the shaker cards, I die cut the large frame out of white cardstock and trimmed off the decorative edges.  I adhered one of the smaller foil die-cut panels to this piece.  I trimmed down the edges some more leaving a small border around the inner panel.  I used the included heart die-cut to cut out a heart from the center of this white cardstock panel just inside the heart that was...

Luv U More

Today's Valentine shaker card features the Spellbinders Snarky Hearts Glimmer Plates.   I used a variety of Spellbinders Glimmer foils to foil the Glimmer Plates onto heavy white cardstock as well as gold foil cardstock. I took the heart die included in the Snarky Hearts Glimmer Plate set and cut out two hearts from a red and pink card base. I glued a piece of acetate to the back of the card bases and placed foam tape all around the back of the bases.  I folded two white A2 sized card panels and sprinkled assorted Valentine glitters on the white card panels in the areas where I cut the hearts from the card bases.  I adhered the card bases to the card panels to create the two shaker cards. On the front of each card panel, I cascaded hearts down the card, alternating a conversation heart with a solid heart.  I embellished the pink card with small red glitter heart stickers.  I embellished the red card by punching out small gold foil hearts and gluing them to ...

I'd Cross the Ocean For You

I just received the Seas the Day stamp set by Dare 2B Artzy and I couldn't wait to use the images and sentiments to make some ocean-themed cards.   I started out by stamping the manatee and shells and colored them with Copic markers.  For the card front, I used Pixie Spray on the back of a mermaid scales stencil and adhered it to a piece of Bristol smooth cardstock.  I blended 3 colors of blue Distress Oxide Inks to make it look like the ocean water was getting lighter near the surface.  To add a little bit of sparkle to the water, I splattered some glitter ink on the stenciled card front. I decided to make this a shaker card, so I used a scallop square die to cut a window out of the center of the card front.  A piece of acetate was glued to the back of this window.  I blended Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink on the white card base.  A sequence mixture was made using blue, white, and iridescent sequence.  I glued a few of the sequence pieces ...

Sunshine and Rainbows

Today's card is a tri-fold shaker card designed in Cricut Design Space and features the Concord & 9th Brighter Days Stamp and Die Set. The first step in making this card was to design the tri-fold card in Cricut Design Space.  For the yellow card base, I used a 9" x 4.4" rectangle and placed a score line at 3.5 inches.  For the blue circular piece, I used a 5.5" x 4" rectangle and welded a 4" circle to the rectangle.  I added a score line where the rectangle and circle meet.  I curved the words "Sunshine" and Rainbows" around a 3.2" white circle and welded the text to the outer edge of this circle.  To create the red ring around the shaker elements, I used a 3.2 inch circle and sliced a 2.7 inch circle out of the center of the larger circle.  The white rectangles used for the front and inside panels measured 3.2" x 4" and 5" x 3.8" respectively. I stamped the inside white panel with the "Sending Sunshine and ...
