Hero Arts Citrus Cards

Today I had fun playing with the Hero Arts Fresh Citrus Bold Prints background stamp and the Hero Arts Zest Wishes Stamp Set to create these fun and fresh set of cards. I started by creating the backgrounds.  I used white cardstock and stamped it with the background stamp using VersaMark Ink.  I heat embossed the panels with white embossing powder.  Then, I used a foam blending tool and blended Scattered Straw, Squeezed Lemonade, and Twisted Citron Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks to ink the card panels.  For some panels, I used only one ink and other panels I used a combination of all the inks.  I cut the inked backgrounds down to 4" x 5.25" and matte each panel on a black card base.   For one card, I used the excess strips from when I cut down the inked panels, and adhered these strips to a black card panel, leaving a little of the black background showing in between each of the strips. I stamped all the citrus fruits, leaves, flowers, and branches on w...

All I Need Is...

Last year, I purchased a few fall items that I wanted to use together to create a birthday card.  I did not have a plan going into the creation of this card.  I created different elements and then decided how they would best fit together.  I started out by cutting a 4.25” x by 5.5” piece of red foil cardstock and embossed it using the Doily 3-D Textured Impressions embossing folder by Sizzix.  The red foil cardstock embossed beautifully.   I mounted this panel to a kraft card base using double-sided adhesive.  I used the same red foil cardstock to cut a coffee cup and handle using the Spellbinders Cup and Beans die set.   I also used dark brown cardstock to cut several coffee beans from the same die set. I wanted the coffee to be a cappuccino, but the die set does not have a foam die.  I found a foam image using Cricut Design Space and cut it with my Cricut machine.  I colored the foam using alcohol markers.  I used a blue wate...

Frenchie Halloween

Today’s interactive card features an image from the Simon Says Stamp Fall Frenchies stamp set and the Lawn Fawn Let’s Toast Pull Tab die set.  I stamped the witch image and colored it using alcohol markers.  I cut off the image of the dog from the pumpkin, making sure to leave its paws attached to the pumpkin.  I used the Lawn Fawn Let’s Toast die set to make the dog’s head pop out of the pumpkin. To create the scene, I cut some green grassy hillsides and adhered them to the bottom of the orange card panel.  I cut an oak tree using the Hello Bluebird Oak Tree die set and outlined the embossed lines on the tree using a brown marker.  I glued the tree on top of the grassy hillside.  I stamped and cut several leaves from the stamp set and colored them using a variety of alcohol markers.  The leaves were scattered amongst the scene. I cut the sentiment from yellow cardstock using Tim Holtz’s Alphanumeric Label dies and adhered them to the bottom of the car...

Wrap ALL My Arms Around You

I am bringing you a third card made from the Dare 2B Artzy Seas the Day stamp set.  I am using the octopus image to create a sweet card to give to someone who needs a little extra TLC. I started out by stamping the octopus on Bristol smooth cardstock. I used my Brother Scan N Cut to cut out the image and then colored it with alcohol markers.  I used a white gel pen to make a few highlights on the octopus. For the background, I scribbled Picked Rasberry and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Crayons on a Bristol smooth cardstock panel.  I used a paintbrush dipped in water to blend out the colors.  After the panel was dry, I used purple tape to tape down a fractal diamond stencil on top of the panel.  I used a Stencil Pal to spread Vicki Boutin's Iridescent glaze over the panel. This allows the blue and pink from the card panel to show through while giving the card panel a beautiful shine.  I adhered the octopus to the card panel using liquid glue. There are so many gre...

Shellabrate!

I am bringing you another card made from the Dare 2B Artzy Seas the Day stamp set.  I just love this fun and whimsy stamp set and couldn't wait to make another card using one of the manatee images.   I started out by stamping one of the manatees along with some shells and the wrapped present on Bristol smooth cardstock. I used my Brother Scan N Cut to cut out the images and then colored them with Copic markers. I wanted to create an underwater scene without having to ink blend.  I glued dark blue cardstock to a white card base.  For the sand, I used my scissors to hand-cut a small mound of sand out of kraft cardstock.  I splattered a mixture of water and Vintage Photo Distress Ink onto the kraft cardstock to make it look like sand.  I glued the sand to the bottom of the dark blue cardstock.   I recently purchased the Momenta Mermaid Scale Card Making Cutting Template.  I thought this would be perfect to turn upside down to make it look l...

Too Long to Recover

Today's card features the Art Impressions Doggy Kisses Stamp Set.  I bought this stamp set a while ago but have never used it.  It seems like the need for "get well" cards has increased during the pandemic so I broke out the stamp set and a few paper scraps and started creating. I stamped the dachshund image and one of the sentiments from the stamp set on Bristol smooth cardstock and colored it using Copic markers.  I fussy cut around the image and the sentiment. I glued a panel of glitter striped cardstock to a black card base.  I used a nested border frame die to cut a black frame and adhered it to the glitter striped paper.  The dog and sentiment were glued to the frame using foam tape.  I doubled up two silk flowers and combined them using a pink glitter brad.  The flowers were attached to the frame using a mini Glue Dot. The one thing I love about Artistic Impressions stamp sets is that the images on the packaging are in color so I chose markers t...

Happy Haunting

I can't quite get into the Christmas spirit, yet so I wanted to share the Halloween cards I made this year.  To create the card I started with a 4.25 by 5.5 panel cut from Bristol smooth cardstock. I used Inkadinkado masking paper to cut a circular mask and stuck that to my background panel. I ink blended around the circular mask using Distress Oxide inks in the colors Broken China, Faded Jeans, Seedless Preserves, and Black Soot. I kept the mask on and took the ink blended panel to my splatter box and splattered it with white acrylic paint and Perfect Pearls. After letting the panel dry, I removed the circular mask and I added a mixture of water and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink to add shadows to the Moon.  I used the Hello Bluebird Oak Tree Scene die cut to cut the trees, the ground, and the frame out of black cardstock. On the ground piece, I stamped the sentiment “Happy Haunting” from a Recollections 2020 Halloween stamp set. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark Ink ...

You Are My Rainbow On A Cloudy Day

I love anything that has rainbows and unicorns.  They take me back to my elementary school days and remind me of my Lisa Frank sticker collection.  So when I saw the Avery Elle Peek-A-Boo Fair stamp, I knew I just had to have it - not for the Ferris wheel and bumper car but for the cute peek-a-boo unicorn.  I couldn't wait to place the unicorn peeking out over a cloud with a rainbow in the background. For the card panel, I used Bristol smooth cardstock and stenciled layers of clouds using Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink and My Favorite Things Cloud Stencil.  I used my Cricut to cut a white cloud and a pastel-colored rainbow.  I inked the edges of the cloud with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink and glued the rainbow to the cloud card panel.  The cloud panel was glued to a black card base. I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink to stamp the unicorn and hooves. I used VersaMark Ink to stamp the sentiment and embossed it with black embossing powder.  The unicorn...
