Tim Holtz Spencer Halloween Card

I can't get enough of Tim Holtz's Colorize Spencer die set.  The detail and dimension of this image is absolutely amazing.  Today's card features Spencer, 3-D embossing folders, and a few other Tim Holtz Halloween dies sets. The main card panel was made by embossing a piece of silver foil cardstock using the Sizzix 3-D Textured Impressions Pinwheel embossing folder.  I watered down a few drops of black acrylic paint and used a paint brush to brush the paint onto the embossed panel.  I let the paint dry for about a minute and then took a paper towel to rub off the excess paint.  I adhered this panel to a black card base. The smaller card panel was made by embossing a piece of black cardstock with the Tim Holtz Sizzix 3-D Texture Fades Mini Cobblestone embossing folder.  I added a few drops of Sterling Distress Foundry Wax to a craft mat and used my finger to apply the Foundry Wax to the embossed panel.  I added a black matte behind this emboss...

Tim Holtz Fall Embossed Thank You Card

I am slowly getting pieces of the Tim Holtz Halloween collection delivered to my house.  This week I received the Acorns 3-D Embossing folder and the new embossing glazes.  I combined these new products with some older Tim Holtz products to create this fall thank you card. To create the background I rubbed the flat side of the Acorns embossing folder with embossing ink.  I lightly sprayed a panel of watercolor paper with water and placed it in the embossing folder.  I ran this through my Sizzix Big Shot a few times.  Afterwards, I sprinkled the panel with Picked Raspberry, Wild Honey, and Wilted Violet Distress embossing glazes.  I heat embossed the entire panel.  I cut down the panel and backed it with purple cardstock.  I adhered the card panel to a white card base. Next, I used the Leaf Fragments die set to die cut some leaves from cream cardstock.  I dry embossed the leaves using the Foliage 3-D embossing folder.  Afterwards, I swipe...

Let It SNOW!

Today's layout is brought to you by the freshly fallen snow that fell last weekend.  My daughter took some beautiful photos and I couldn't wait to scrapbook them.   The inspiration for this layout began with a pile of 3-D embossed holographic snowflakes.  I made these using the Tim Holtz Snowflake 3-D Impresslits.  Next, I looked through my stash to find paper that would coordinate with the snowflakes.  I decided upon the DCWV Cranberry Christmas Premium paper pad. I gutted the inside of the red and white snowflake paper and adhered the one-inch frame of this paper to a 12x12 piece of white cardstock.  I cut one-half inch off each side of the gray reindeer paper and centered this paper on top of the red and white snowflake paper.   I had two large scraps of paper that I cut into banners and layered them on top of each other.  I matted the photo using the same gray and white polka dot paper used for one of the banners.  I adhered the...

Merry and Bright

Today's beautiful and easy Christmas card features an embossed card panel sprayed with Distress Mica Stain. I embossed a red cardstock panel with the Sizzix 3-D Texture Impressions Tartan Embossing Folder.  To give it some shine, I sprayed it with Holly Branch Distress Mica Stain.  I cut Merry and Bright out of black cardstock using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Merry & Bright Thinlits die set.  I adhered these words diagonally across the card panel. To embellish the corners of the card, I used red cardstock to cut poinsettias from the Sizzix Seasonal Flowers Framelits w/ Stamps set.  I used an embossing stylus to add texture to the flower petals.  After I layered up the red leaves, I added a gold foiled flower to the center. I cut pine branches from the Merry & Bright die set and adhered the poinsettias and pine branches to opposite corners of the card panel.  I used foam tape to the back of the card panel and adhered it to a black card base. This stun...

A Strange Thing Happened

Today's Halloween card combines embossing, die-cutting, Distress Mica Stains, and a little bit of silliness. I started by embossing a panel of cream cardstock with the Brickwork 3-D embossing folder.  I sprayed this panel with Jack-O-Lantern and Hocus Pocus Distress Mica Stains. I die cut the cauldron, the witch's bottom, and her hat from black cardstock.  The handle and hat buckle was die cut from silver foil cardstock.  I die cut the witch's legs from orange cardstock and cut small strips of purple cardstock to glue to the witch's stockings and around the brim of her hat.  I die cut some green clouds and layered them to look like cauldron bubbles.  I also die cut the witch's shoes from green cardstock.  The edges of the shoes and bubbles were inked with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink. I popped up the hat and the cauldron using foam tape.  I inverted the witch and placed her into the cauldron.  I stamped the sentiment onto vellum using Sta...

Ghosts and Goblins

Today's Halloween card features a variety of Tim Holtz products.  I recently purchased a set of Tim Holtz embossing glazes and couldn't wait to use them to create a brick background. To create the brick background, I started by spraying water on the front and back of a piece of watercolor paper.  I placed the paper inside the Tim Holtz Sizzix 3-D Brickwork Texture Fades embossing folder and ran it through my die-cut machine.  I swiped my VersaMark ink pad over the brick embossed background.  I sprinkled Fired Brick Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Glaze in a few random places on the background panel.  I shook off the excess powder and repeated the process with Rusty Hinge and Tattered Rose embossing glazes.  I heat embossed the entire panel.   This created a beautiful shiny brick background, but I wanted it to have more of a distressed look.   I took a black art crayon and scribbled it across a piece of plastic.  I used my finger to tra...

Hello Fall

Happy first day of fall!  Today's card uses a variety of Tim Holtz products to celebrate the first day of my favorite season. I sprayed a variety of Distress Mica Stains onto watercolor paper.  Then, I used the Tim Holtz Leaf Fragments Thinlits to cut out the leaves from the watercolor paper.  I cut two A2 ivory card panels.  I used the Leaf Fragment dies to die-cut a larger leaf out of the top of the card panels and a smaller leaf out of the bottom of the card panels.  I embossed both these panels using the Foliage 3-D embossing folder.  I trimmed a small amount off of each panel. For the purple card, I placed gold foil cardstock on the back of each of the leaf cut-outs.  I glued this ivory card panel to a dark brown A2 cardstock panel.   For the other card, I glued the ivory card panel directly to a rust-colored A2 cardstock panel.   I inlaid the die-cut leaves that had more of the orange and yellow mica stains to the leaf cutouts...

Glimmer Hot Foil Birthday Cards

Today's cards are part of my stash-busting series.  This is where I look around my craft room and grab a bunch of supplies that I haven't yet had the chance to use.  The results yielded two glimmer hot foiled birthday cards. I used the smooshing technique to apply Mustard Seed and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide inks onto white card panels.  After the panels were dry, I used the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System along with the Scattered Flowers and Diamonetta Background Glimmer plates to add Aura Glimmer Hot foil to the card panels.   The card panels were mounted onto pink cardstock.  I used the same Aura foil to glimmer the Happy Birthday sentiment onto white cardstock.   I cut the sentiment using a Momenta nesting border die.  I used a slightly larger border die to cut a sentiment border from the pink cardstock.  I cut pink and yellow flowers using the Sizzix Spring Things die set.  I ran the flowers and sentiment border through t...

Embossed Shaker Cards

Today's cards focus on using items from my stash.  I wanted to use a variety of supplies in my craft room that I have not yet used or haven't used in quite a while.   I didn't have a plan in mind, but I know I wanted to start by using the WendyVecchi Country Flowers Make Art Stamp, Die, and Stencil set.  I stamped the outlines of the flower, leaves, and butterfly using Versafine Onyx Black ink onto white cardstock.  I filled in the images by stamping with a variety of colors of Memento inks.  I cut out the images using the coordinating dies. I matched the stamped images with different colors of scrap paper. The background panels were embossed using Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folders.  I adhered the back panels to white card bases using double-sided tape.  For the front panel of the shaker cards, I die cut a window out of the cardstock panels using a border die.  I embossed these panels using Cricut Cuttlebug embossing folders.  I us...

From Me To You

Today's card combines ink blending, embossing, die-cutting, and foiling to create a beautiful spring card. Three colors of ink were blended on the smooth side of the Sizzix Tim Holtz Poinsettia 3-D Texture Fades embossing folder.  This allowed for the embossed portion of the card panel to remain white amongst a soft ink blended background. I die-cut a butterfly using a butterfly cutting template set from Momenta.  The holographic details of the butterfly were glued to the butterfly wings which were cut from vellum. The sentiment was foiled in Prism hot foil using the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System.  I cut a banner around the sentiment and adhered the butterfly and the sentiment to the card panel.  I trimmed the embossed card panel slightly on each side and attached it to a holographic cardstock panel.  This was glued to a white card base. This was a quick and easy card to make, but I love the soft colors and the overall elegance of the card. From Me T...
