Tim Holtz Fall Embossed Thank You Card

I am slowly getting pieces of the Tim Holtz Halloween collection delivered to my house.  This week I received the Acorns 3-D Embossing folder and the new embossing glazes.  I combined these new products with some older Tim Holtz products to create this fall thank you card. To create the background I rubbed the flat side of the Acorns embossing folder with embossing ink.  I lightly sprayed a panel of watercolor paper with water and placed it in the embossing folder.  I ran this through my Sizzix Big Shot a few times.  Afterwards, I sprinkled the panel with Picked Raspberry, Wild Honey, and Wilted Violet Distress embossing glazes.  I heat embossed the entire panel.  I cut down the panel and backed it with purple cardstock.  I adhered the card panel to a white card base. Next, I used the Leaf Fragments die set to die cut some leaves from cream cardstock.  I dry embossed the leaves using the Foliage 3-D embossing folder.  Afterwards, I swipe...

Alcohol Inked Butterfly Cards

Do you have lots of alcohol markers that you rarely use?  I have spent a lot of money on alcohol markers only to find that I really don't enjoy coloring stamped images.  Today's beautiful cards were created while experimenting with alternate ways I can use my alcohol markers. To create the alcohol inked background shapes, I took a piece of Yupo white translucent paper that I purchased at Hobby Lobby and scribbled various shades of pink alcohol markers across the Yupo Paper.  Then, I dropped alcohol ink blending solution in various places on the paper.  I tipped the paper back and forth to allow the pink shades to mix and fill up most of the white space of the paper.  I repeated this process on another piece of Yupo paper using shades of blue alcohol markers. I allowed the paper to dry until parts of the paper felt a little tacky.  Then, I took some of my foil scraps (left over from when I use my Spellbinders Glimmer machine), and placed the scraps on top of...

Love to Dance

Today's layout uses the Bokeh technique from Vicki Boutin's Friday Night Live YouTube tutorial. This technique is truly magical, and I knew it would pair well with the stage lighting on my daughter's dance photos.   I started by prepping a piece of 12x12 cardstock with clear gesso.  While the cardstock was drying, I cut a piece of acetate with 3 different sized circle dies, leaving a lot of space in between the circle cutouts.  I scribbled a purple Vicki Boutin art crayon on my nonstick mat and sprayed it with a little bit of water.  I used a stencil brush to pick up the pigment and applied it in a circular motion to the left side of the cardstock.  I repeated this until the whole left side was covered in purple pigment.  Then, I repeated the process using a pink art crayon.  I placed the acetate stencil with the circle cutouts on top of the pigment.  Using a slightly damp baby wipe, I placed it on one of the circle cutouts and rubbed away th...

Daisy Delight

Today's card features the Spellbinders Daisy Delight Garden Shutters A2 Card Base die set and the Spellbinders Sketched Floral Embossing Folder of the Month for February 2022.  I do not own any daisy dies so I couldn't wait to create using this die set. I started by cutting two A2 sized card panels out of Kraft cardstock.  I used the included die to cut out the center out of one of these panels.  I then embossed this panel with the Spellbinders Sketched Floral embossing folder.  I cut a third A2 sized panel from bright green cardstock and used the kinetic die to cut out two shutters from this panel following the directions on the Spellbinders website .  I assembled the card following the directions from the Spellbinders website. To decorate the front of the card, I cut two window panels from yellow cardstock and two lattice panels from white cardstock.  I glued the white lattice panels to the yellow window panels and adhered these to the front of the card....

Sending Love

Today's gift card envelope floral card features the Spellbinders Be Bold Blooms die set and Essentials Glimmer Sentiments hot foil plates.  This is beautiful die set full of different types of flowers and foliage, and I could not wait to use it.  I also love the new Glimmer sentiments which I used on the inside of the card. I created the card panel by cutting an A2 sized piece of gray cardstock.  I applied VersaMark ink to the Momenta Wood Grain clear stamp.  I stamped this onto the gray cardstock panel and embossed it with white embossing powder.  Such a beautiful stamp! Next, I used the We R Memory Keepers envelope punch board to create an envelope that would hold a gift card.  Using liquid glue, I adhered the envelope at a slight angle onto the card panel. I used the Be Bold Blooms die set and cut out several different flowers from scraps of textured cardstock.  I arranged the flowers onto the flap and front of the envelope.  I used bright pink...

Hello Spring 2022

I love making spring cards.  I get so excited to mix and match the many die sets I have accumulated throughout the year.  Today's cards feature die cut shapes from a variety of die sets.  I created both a vertical and horizontal card layout, changing out the focal image on each of the cards. I started by cutting one of the Sizzix Creative Background dies from the side of a white card panel.  I trimmed a little off each edge and layered it onto a pink cardstock panel.  I cut some grass from light green cardstock using the the grass die from the Spellbinders March 2021 Large Die of the Month Set.  Using the same die set, I cut the sentiment "Hello Spring" from lavender cardstock. You can't have a spring card without lots of flowers, so I scavenged through my scraps of paper to find colors that would coordinate well together.  I used multiple Sizzix Thinlits die sets to cut flowers, foliage, and branches from the scraps of colored cardstock.  I also ...

All I Need Is...

Last year, I purchased a few fall items that I wanted to use together to create a birthday card.  I did not have a plan going into the creation of this card.  I created different elements and then decided how they would best fit together.  I started out by cutting a 4.25” x by 5.5” piece of red foil cardstock and embossed it using the Doily 3-D Textured Impressions embossing folder by Sizzix.  The red foil cardstock embossed beautifully.   I mounted this panel to a kraft card base using double-sided adhesive.  I used the same red foil cardstock to cut a coffee cup and handle using the Spellbinders Cup and Beans die set.   I also used dark brown cardstock to cut several coffee beans from the same die set. I wanted the coffee to be a cappuccino, but the die set does not have a foam die.  I found a foam image using Cricut Design Space and cut it with my Cricut machine.  I colored the foam using alcohol markers.  I used a blue wate...

Frenchie Halloween

Today’s interactive card features an image from the Simon Says Stamp Fall Frenchies stamp set and the Lawn Fawn Let’s Toast Pull Tab die set.  I stamped the witch image and colored it using alcohol markers.  I cut off the image of the dog from the pumpkin, making sure to leave its paws attached to the pumpkin.  I used the Lawn Fawn Let’s Toast die set to make the dog’s head pop out of the pumpkin. To create the scene, I cut some green grassy hillsides and adhered them to the bottom of the orange card panel.  I cut an oak tree using the Hello Bluebird Oak Tree die set and outlined the embossed lines on the tree using a brown marker.  I glued the tree on top of the grassy hillside.  I stamped and cut several leaves from the stamp set and colored them using a variety of alcohol markers.  The leaves were scattered amongst the scene. I cut the sentiment from yellow cardstock using Tim Holtz’s Alphanumeric Label dies and adhered them to the bottom of the car...

Glimmer Hot Foil Birthday Cards

Today's cards are part of my stash-busting series.  This is where I look around my craft room and grab a bunch of supplies that I haven't yet had the chance to use.  The results yielded two glimmer hot foiled birthday cards. I used the smooshing technique to apply Mustard Seed and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide inks onto white card panels.  After the panels were dry, I used the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System along with the Scattered Flowers and Diamonetta Background Glimmer plates to add Aura Glimmer Hot foil to the card panels.   The card panels were mounted onto pink cardstock.  I used the same Aura foil to glimmer the Happy Birthday sentiment onto white cardstock.   I cut the sentiment using a Momenta nesting border die.  I used a slightly larger border die to cut a sentiment border from the pink cardstock.  I cut pink and yellow flowers using the Sizzix Spring Things die set.  I ran the flowers and sentiment border through t...

Embroidered Thank You Card

Today's embroidered thank you card features the Spellbinders Stitched Thanks April 2021 Small Die of the Month.  This card was a first for me.  It was my first time stitching on a card and my first time creating a slimline card. I cut the embroidered template from 100 lb cardstock so it would be sturdy enough to handle the embroidery stitches.  I followed the directions provided by Spellbinders to stitch the flowers and the leaves using a variety of pink, purple, and green embroidery floss.  I used the die to cut the word "Thanks" from gold foil cardstock.  I adhered the letters to the embroidered cardstock.  I glued a panel of gold foil cardstock to a slimline card base.  Using foam squares, I popped up the embroidered panel onto a panel of pink shimmer cardstock and then adhered this to a white cardstock panel.  This was glued to the gold foil card base.  I cut out four leaves from gold foil cardstock and glued two to each side of the ...

From Me To You

Today's card combines ink blending, embossing, die-cutting, and foiling to create a beautiful spring card. Three colors of ink were blended on the smooth side of the Sizzix Tim Holtz Poinsettia 3-D Texture Fades embossing folder.  This allowed for the embossed portion of the card panel to remain white amongst a soft ink blended background. I die-cut a butterfly using a butterfly cutting template set from Momenta.  The holographic details of the butterfly were glued to the butterfly wings which were cut from vellum. The sentiment was foiled in Prism hot foil using the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System.  I cut a banner around the sentiment and adhered the butterfly and the sentiment to the card panel.  I trimmed the embossed card panel slightly on each side and attached it to a holographic cardstock panel.  This was glued to a white card base. This was a quick and easy card to make, but I love the soft colors and the overall elegance of the card. From Me T...

Celebrate

Today's cards combine Momenta and Spellbinders die sets with a Sizzix Happy Birthday 3-D embossing folder.     I started by embossing a variety of A2 cardstock panels.  I love the look of all the different birthday greetings the folder embosses, especially on foiled cardstock.  For one of the cards, I cut a scalloped oval out of pink glittered cardstock and adhered the oval to a white embossed panel.  For another card, I cut a scalloped oval out of the light blue foiled embossed panel and adhered this to a white card base.  For the third card, I adhered an orange embossed panel to a white card base. Next, I looked through my paper scraps to find a variety of glittered patterned paper.  I also found scraps of coordinating solid cardstock.  I used the scraps of paper and the die set to create the cakes, banners, and sentiments.   The cakes were adhered to either the die-cut scalloped ovals or a gilded rectangle.  I used a differe...
