Winter Wishes

I finally received my Spellbinders Small Die of the Month November 2020 die cut set and could not wait to use it to create some winter cards. I also recently purchased the Sizzix 3-D Jeweled Snowflakes embossing folder and wanted to pair this with the die set.  To begin, I cut a card panel out of white cardstock. I inked the smooth side of the embossing folder with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink. I lightly sprayed the embossing folder and the paper with a small amount of water and ran it through my Big Shot machine. Next, I cut two hillsides using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border die set. Using a blending brush, I inked the top edges of the hillsides with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink. I adhered the hillsides to the bottom of the card panel, popping up the top hillside with foam tape. I splattered the entire card panel and snowbanks with a mixture of Perfect Pearls and water.    The tree limbs were cut from a piece of white cardstock that I brayered with Shabby Shutters and

Welcome Fall

Happy Thanksgiving!  Today's fall card was totally inspired by Nichol Spohr.  She made a card that was so beautiful that I wanted to do my own version of it.  She used a couple of Hero Arts Dies that were out of stock (probably because everyone watched her video).   Since I couldn't order the die set, I designed the card in Cricut Design Space.  I took a combination of 2 different pumpkins so that I could have a decent looking pumpkin top as well as a large pumpkin.  I cut the pumpkin pieces on creme cardstock and shaded the pieces using alcohol markers.  I cut a variety of sunflowers, leaves, and foliage out of several colors of cardstock.  I also die cut flowers using my Big Shot.   Nichol used a wood plank stamp set.  I did not have the stamp set, but I did have a 3-D wood plank embossing folder.  I inked the embossing folder with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and embossed a light brown piece of cardstock.  The grains of the wood did not stand out enough so I used an ink blend

Happy Haunting

I can't quite get into the Christmas spirit, yet so I wanted to share the Halloween cards I made this year.  To create the card I started with a 4.25 by 5.5 panel cut from Bristol smooth cardstock. I used Inkadinkado masking paper to cut a circular mask and stuck that to my background panel. I ink blended around the circular mask using Distress Oxide inks in the colors Broken China, Faded Jeans, Seedless Preserves, and Black Soot. I kept the mask on and took the ink blended panel to my splatter box and splattered it with white acrylic paint and Perfect Pearls. After letting the panel dry, I removed the circular mask and I added a mixture of water and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink to add shadows to the Moon.  I used the Hello Bluebird Oak Tree Scene die cut to cut the trees, the ground, and the frame out of black cardstock. On the ground piece, I stamped the sentiment “Happy Haunting” from a Recollections 2020 Halloween stamp set. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark Ink and e

Christmas Tradition

It feels like Fall has just started, but I am getting into the Christmas spirit by scrapbooking some older photos.  This layout was created using a couple of papers from the My Mind’s Eye Cozy Christmas collection.  First, I cut out the center of the green and white polka dot paper so I could conserve the pretty glitter poinsettia paper that was on the other side.  Then, I took the poinsettia paper and cut off about three-fourths of an inch on two sides, and centered it on the green and white polka dot paper. Next, I cut down the wallet size photos and mounted them on the snowflake paper leaving a gap between the photos to add some embellishments. I mounted the strip of paper in coordinating red card stock and placed the strip near the bottom of the layout.  The 4 x 6 photo was double matted in the snowflake paper and red card stock.  This was placed in the upper right corner of the layout. I used the Hero Arts Nested Tag Dies to cut three large tags out of red and green card stock and
