Merch

Today's layout features Distress Oxide Paints and is featured around my kids and their sweatshirts from their favorite YouTubers.  They both received their sweatshirts in the mail this week and couldn't wait to wear them. I wanted to create a painted background.  I knew that Twisted Citron, Spun Sugar, and Black Soot Distress Oxide paints would match the color of their sweatshirts perfectly and provide the bold stripes that I wanted for my background.  I used white gesso to cover the back of a 12X12 heavy-weight white cardstock insert from a Heidi Swapp Storyline album page protector.  I used a wide paintbrush to brush a bold horizontal stripe of each of the paint colors.  I used Heidi Swapp's Gold Color Shine to add paint splatters to the painted background. For the title, I downloaded the Blue Bird font from dafont.com and I used my Cricut machine to cut the word MERCH.  I only used the outline of the title and backed each letter with papers that coordinated with the pain

Spellbinders Lace Hearts Cards

Today's cards feature the Spellbinders Lace Hearts die set and the January Glimmer Hot Foil Kit on embossed heart backgrounds.  I created two different background panels.  For the first panel, I used VersaMark ink to stamp the Hero Arts Bursting With Love background stamp on red cardstock.  I heat embossed it with holographic embossing powder.  For the second background, I used Festive Berries Distress Oxide ink to stamp the Simon Says Stamp Heart Garland Background stamp on white cardstock and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I layered each background on gold foil cardstock and adhered them to a white card base. I die-cut the large lace hearts from gold foil cardstock and the inner hearts with white cardstock.  I layered the hearts on the stamped backgrounds using foam tape.  I added a red foil heart glimmered with gold foil to one of the cards and a small gold foil heart to the other. The final touch was to add a glimmer sentiment to the bottom right of each card. I

Spellbinders Club Kit Valentine's Day Cards

Today's cards feature the Spellbinders January Small Die of the Month and the Glimmer Hot Foil Club Kits.  I couldn't wait to combine these two kits to create some Valentine cards. I used the dies from the Small Die of the Month kit to cut several pieces from pink and white cardstock as well as red and gold foil cardstock.  I used the Glimmer Hot Foil sentiment glimmer plates to glimmer several sentiments in red and gold foil onto white cardstock.  For each card, I glued the decorative frame to a white card base.  I added the smaller die cut panel to the decorative frame. For the shaker cards, I die cut the large frame out of white cardstock and trimmed off the decorative edges.  I adhered one of the smaller foil die-cut panels to this piece.  I trimmed down the edges some more leaving a small border around the inner panel.  I used the included heart die-cut to cut out a heart from the center of this white cardstock panel just inside the heart that was already cut out from the

Love to Create

Today's layout features Shilmelle's Sparkle City collection and Concord & 9th's Oh, Snap! stamp and die set.   I wanted to include a photo of myself in my scrapbooks since I am often under-represented in my layouts.  I chose a recent photo of myself taken in my crafty space and centered the layout around some of my favorite projects that I have recently completed. The inspiration for the layout came from Missy Whidden's "Love My Girl" scrapbook page.  I decided to use a patterned paper for the background of the layout rather than try to reproduce Missy's mixed media background.  The camera patterned paper from the Sparkle City collection was a perfect choice for the focus of this layout.   Using my Cricut machine, I cut doilies out of teal paper and purple glitter cardstock. I also cut flowers and foliage using the lavender paper and pink holographic dotted paper from the collection.  I staggered the doilies on the background paper and added the photo

Sympathy Cards

I never thought I would need to create a bank of sympathy cards, but in these unprecedented times, it seems as though I am needing them more now than ever before.   I was inspired by Cathy Zielske's video on making brayered backgrounds using Distress Oxide inks on a gel plate.  I liked the appearance of her card panels when she sprinkled water droplets onto her gel plate.  To make things quick and easy, I used the same ink colors shown in her video and the same water droplet technique.   I love all the different panels I created from my gel plate pulls.  There were a couple of background panels that didn't capture the water droplets.  These panels needed a little extra TLC in order to be turned into beautiful card backgrounds.  I ran the panels through a floral embossing folder.  Then, I sanded down the raised portions to allow the white of the cardstock to show through. The transformation of the panels was amazing! I mass-produced sympathy sentiments using two different stamp
