Ride the Wave

For today's card, I made a beach scene using the Hero Arts Beach Heroscape stamp set.  I used a variety of different inks to create this scene. I started out by stamping the first layer of the water using Ocean ink by Close to My Heart.  The top layer was inked using It's A Boy ink by Catherine Pooler.  I used VersaFine ink to stamp the surfer within the water.  I used Antique Linen Distress Ink for the base of the rocks and stamped the top layer in Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  I fussy cut around the water and rocks. I used Distress Oxide inks to create the sky.  I started by blending Broken China to the top of a white card base.  I blended a little bit of Squeezed Lemonade underneath Broken China to give the effect of a sunset.  I used VersaFine ink to stamp the sentiment, sea gulls, and parasailer in the sky. To create the sand, I swiped VersaMark ink on white cardstock and embossed it with Stamp On It Powder Keg Desert Sand Embossing Powder.  I adhered the wave to the left of

#Freedom

Today's scrapbook layout was inspired by @crafty_concepts_with_erin.  I was watching one of her YouTube videos where she was sharing her layouts and she created a layout using nothing but pocket page cards.  I have a ton of these cards in my stash that I never use, so this was the perfect layout to scraplift.  Check out her video that I linked in the supplies below to see her original layout. I started out by searching for papers to match the Project Life Sparkle pocket cards.  I found the green and white polka dot paper and the dark blue paper from the Echo Park It's a Celebration paper pad. I used the green and white polka dot paper as my background paper and cut a strip of the dark blue paper to place down the center of my layout. I staggered a combination of 3x4 and 4x6 pocket cards down the left side of the layout.  I matte my photo in white cardstock and layered two 4x6 cards behind the photo.  I used a 3x4 card underneath the photo and added a small amount of journaling

New Wheels

I finally did it!  I broke down and cut into the beautiful Vicki Boutin Color Study collection.  This is my favorite paper collection of all time.  I have already made 3 layouts using this collection and will be sharing those with your soon.  Today's layout celebrates my daughter getting her first car. I started by applying white gesso to smooth white cardstock.  In the end, this was an unnecessary step since I did not use much water on the page.  I scribbled a Vicki Boutin orange art crayon on a piece of clear plastic and used a stencil brush to apply the crayon through the Color Study circular stencil.  I used this technique in three areas of the layout.  Next, I used blue ink to stamp small plus signs in the same areas where I stenciled. I cut a wide strip of the yellow star paper from the Color Study collection and a smaller strip of the blue and white striped paper and layered these across the middle of the page.  I cut the back of one of the cards from the Vicki Boutin card s

Thinking of You

I recently made a scrapbook layout using papers from the Jen Hadfield Home + Made paper collection.  I love the color combinations in this collection and did not have the heart to throw away the scraps of paper.  So I gathered up some Distress Oxide inks in coordinating colors and a couple of flower layering stamp sets from Hampton Art. I used Scattered Straw and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Inks for the bases of the flowers.  I stamped the flower details with Fossilized Amber and Abandoned Coral.  For the green leaves, I used Cracked Pistachio and added the details with Evergreen Bough.  I stamped the remaining foliage and small leaves using Weathered Wood.  I also used Weathered Wood to stamp the centers of the large pink flower and one of the smaller yellow flowers.  All stamped images were cut with my Brother ScanNCut. I adhered a piece of flower patterned paper to the bottom of the card base and a piece of green arrow paper to the top. I used a strip of black and white polka dot p
