Live Life Bloom

I am obsessed with taking photos of the cherry blossoms.  We have several trees in our neighborhood that are absolutely gorgeous when they are in full bloom.  I took this photo last year while on a walk around our neighborhood.  My son was playing with a friend and I told him to run and pose in front of the tree so I could take a picture.  Later that year, I purchased a Crafter's companion stamp and die set that I knew would be perfect for this layout. After several attempts, I realized that to get the best stamping of the blossoms, I needed to use my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform so I could line up the blossoms with the tree trunk.  Using the platform also allowed me to mix a few colors of Distress Oxide Inks. I knew that adding rhinestones to a page would be a little over the top for a layout featuring my son, but the gems really made the blossoms pop off the page and added the perfect finishing touch. My husband has been part of amateur radio for quite some time.  He participates in several competitions each year.  Many of these require him to stay overnight at another operator's house.  He will occasionally send me pictures to update me on his progress.  This page shows him at one of his competitions.  Since he had a lot of red, white, and blue in the photo, I selected some older patriotic paper that I had in my stash to create the layout. I wanted to have the background pieces of paper to be wavy to represent radio waves.  For the embellishments, I cut out his radio call sign and a radio tower using my Cricut.  I also fussy cut the pinwheels from the Pink Paislee paper.  All items were inked with chipped sapphire distress oxide ink.
