Today Is The Day

Today’s page was inspired by the Simple Stories "I am" stencil and several of Vicki Boutin's products. I wanted to create a mixed media background for the photos of my daughter getting her helix pierced. I started by using a piece of paper from the Vicki Boutin All the Good Things Mixed Media Pad and put some white gesso on the corner of the paper. I sprayed the stencil with Pixie Spray and placed it down on the white gesso. I used a paint palette knife to smear some Martha Stuart gold glitter paste onto the stencil.  I let the glitter paste dry.  At this point, I  really struggled with the photo arrangement on the page. After several tries, I gave up trying to make the background fit with the photos and I ended up just cutting a strip of the glitter paste words to use on the page. I mounted a strip of three photos on a piece of red dotted paper from the mixed media paper pad and then adhered that to the left side of a 5x12 piece of colorful bubble paper. I used two strip

Today's Valentine shaker card features the Spellbinders Snarky Hearts Glimmer Plates.   I used a variety of Spellbinders Glimmer foils to foil the Glimmer Plates onto heavy white cardstock as well as gold foil cardstock. I took the heart die included in the Snarky Hearts Glimmer Plate set and cut out two hearts from a red and pink card base. I glued a piece of acetate to the back of the card bases and placed foam tape all around the back of the bases.  I folded two white A2 sized card panels and sprinkled assorted Valentine glitters on the white card panels in the areas where I cut the hearts from the card bases.  I adhered the card bases to the card panels to create the two shaker cards. On the front of each card panel, I cascaded hearts down the card, alternating a conversation heart with a solid heart.  I embellished the pink card with small red glitter heart stickers.  I embellished the red card by punching out small gold foil hearts and gluing them to the front of the card. A Joyful Christmas Snow Globe

This layout was completely inspired by @cityscrapper's "Twinkle Bright" snow globe scrapbook layout.  I have linked her video tutorial in the supply list.  I never thought to create a shaker card on a scrapbook layout before so I thought I would give it a try. I found an old SEI NOEL paper collection in my stash that I knew would be perfect for this layout.  I used the Winter Chill glitter accent page as my background.  To create the snow globe, I used my EQ Success Curvy Cutter to cut a large circle out of the Iced Ornaments paper to serve as the background for the snow globe.  I also cut a circular piece of acetate and a circular silver foil frame to adhere to the acetate.  For the snow globe base, I cut a piece of wood-grained paper and backed it on silver foil cardstock.  I glued the photo to the center of the snowglobe and embellished it with a snowflake sticker from the paper pack.  I customized several colors of sequence for the inside of the snow globe, include so

Love

Today's card combines many techniques but overall it has a very simple and clean look.     I cut a heart out of masking paper and used a blending brush to ink blend Festive Berries and Spun Sugar Distress Oxide inks around the heart onto the card base.  I cut the same shaped heart out of white paper and stamped the word love from the Clearly Besotted Love Notes stamp set using Festive Berries Distress Oxide.  I re-stamped over the word using VersaMark ink and embossed it in clear embossing powder to give it a glossy look.  The hippo from the same stamp set was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored using a variety of alcohol markers. I popped up the heart onto the card base using craft foam and glued 3 lavender pearls on opposite sides of the heart.  I put a red and white striped piece of washi tape going down the inside of the card.  I cut a small amount from the front of the card base so the washi tape on the inside of the card peeked through to the front. Christmas Morning 2020

This year I hope to use up more of my stash and the items I have available to me that are already in my craft room.  I started this process with my 2020 Christmas layouts. I have been saving this gorgeous velvet peppermint striped paper for many years.  Today was the day I was determined to use it.  I also love using poinsettias and snowflakes on my Christmas layouts but I have been overusing my Spellbinders poinsettias dies and my snowflake dies were too small for this layout.  I decided to open up Cricut design space so that I could size the flowers and snowflakes to exactly what I needed.  I wanted to keep the layout in traditional Christmas colors.  In order to bring green into the layout, I also cut some pine needles to nestle behind the poinsettias. The layout came together pretty quickly.  I wanted to keep the background pretty simple so I chose a piece of wood-grained paper to serve as my background.  I cut a large circle out of the velvet paper and backed it in black cardstock
