Fall Photos

Today's layout was inspired by a scrapbook page and sketch created by Allison Davis ( @allisondavis4svg ) and features the Simple Stories Fall Farmhouse and Autumn Splendor collections. I designed the layout in Cricut Design Space.  I cut a large hexagon using yellow patterned paper from the Fall Farmhouse collection.  I also cut a thin white hexagonal border from white cardstock.  I adhered the white hexagonal border to the large hexagon and glued this to a white 12x12 piece of cardstock.  I also used my Cricut machine to cut the pumpkins from white cardstock and vines from dark green cardstock.  The leaves were cut from patterned paper from the Autumn Splendor collection. I backed the pumpkins with a piece of orange patterned paper from the same collection.  I fussy cut flowers from two of the patterned papers from the Fall Farmhouse collection. I used the leaves, pumpkins, vines, and flowers to create two embellishment clusters on opposite sides of the hexagon.  A small cluster

Do What You Love

Today's layout is based on a sketch from Christy's Beautiful Life 30 Days of Sketches Day 16.  I used the Dear Lizzy She's Magic collection to showcase photos of my daughter dancing. The challenge with these photos is the horrible orange stage lighting.  I knew that I had to find some papers to try to take the focus off the orange lighting and bring the focus onto my daughter.  I used a variety of patterned papers from the collection in pink, yellow, white, and blue.  I used a reddish-orange chevron paper as the background paper.  I created five banner pieces of various sizes from the patterned papers.  I cut a piece of the lined notebook paper and backed it in gold glitter paper.  I placed this on top of the banners.  The two photos were placed on a piece of gold glitter paper and backed with two other papers from the collection.  I adhered the photos on top of the lined paper.  The word DANCE was cut from gold glitter paper and placed above the photo.   To embellish the l

Easter Creations

This Easter layout features all the items I bought on my Spring Break crafting shopping spree. I used my new tools and the Simple Stories I Am collection to showcase the fabulous creations my mother made for Easter.  I started by cutting a panel of striped paper from the collection and adhering it across the center of a piece of 12x12 white cardstock. I staggered three 4x 4 photos across the striped paper. I cut a 2-inch strip of the yellow patterned paper and glued it across the bottom of the layout. I also cut a very thin border of the striped paper and placed it across the top of the page. I used the We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill to foil designs onto cardstock.  I used gold foil and the holiday We R Memory Keepers design drive to foil Easter eggs on light and dark turquoise cardstock.  I used the same gold foil and some images from the floral design drive to foil butterflies and foliage onto white cardstock. I placed the coordinating enamel dots from the collection in the centers o

Celebrate

Today's cards combine Momenta and Spellbinders die sets with a Sizzix Happy Birthday 3-D embossing folder.     I started by embossing a variety of A2 cardstock panels.  I love the look of all the different birthday greetings the folder embosses, especially on foiled cardstock.  For one of the cards, I cut a scalloped oval out of pink glittered cardstock and adhered the oval to a white embossed panel.  For another card, I cut a scalloped oval out of the light blue foiled embossed panel and adhered this to a white card base.  For the third card, I adhered an orange embossed panel to a white card base. Next, I looked through my paper scraps to find a variety of glittered patterned paper.  I also found scraps of coordinating solid cardstock.  I used the scraps of paper and the die set to create the cakes, banners, and sentiments.   The cakes were adhered to either the die-cut scalloped ovals or a gilded rectangle.  I used a different Momenta die set to cut stars and confetti and glued
