Tim Holtz Spencer Halloween Card

I can't get enough of Tim Holtz's Colorize Spencer die set.  The detail and dimension of this image is absolutely amazing.  Today's card features Spencer, 3-D embossing folders, and a few other Tim Holtz Halloween dies sets. The main card panel was made by embossing a piece of silver foil cardstock using the Sizzix 3-D Textured Impressions Pinwheel embossing folder.  I watered down a few drops of black acrylic paint and used a paint brush to brush the paint onto the embossed panel.  I let the paint dry for about a minute and then took a paper towel to rub off the excess paint.  I adhered this panel to a black card base. The smaller card panel was made by embossing a piece of black cardstock with the Tim Holtz Sizzix 3-D Texture Fades Mini Cobblestone embossing folder.  I added a few drops of Sterling Distress Foundry Wax to a craft mat and used my finger to apply the Foundry Wax to the embossed panel.  I added a black matte behind this embossed panel and adhered it at an an

Tim Holtz Fall Embossed Thank You Card

I am slowly getting pieces of the Tim Holtz Halloween collection delivered to my house.  This week I received the Acorns 3-D Embossing folder and the new embossing glazes.  I combined these new products with some older Tim Holtz products to create this fall thank you card. To create the background I rubbed the flat side of the Acorns embossing folder with embossing ink.  I lightly sprayed a panel of watercolor paper with water and placed it in the embossing folder.  I ran this through my Sizzix Big Shot a few times.  Afterwards, I sprinkled the panel with Picked Raspberry, Wild Honey, and Wilted Violet Distress embossing glazes.  I heat embossed the entire panel.  I cut down the panel and backed it with purple cardstock.  I adhered the card panel to a white card base. Next, I used the Leaf Fragments die set to die cut some leaves from cream cardstock.  I dry embossed the leaves using the Foliage 3-D embossing folder.  Afterwards, I swiped Walnut Stain Distress Ink over one of the embos

Lost in the Inky Darkness

Today's card features a few of the new Tim Holtz Sizzix and Ranger Halloween products.  I could not wait to use the Tim Holtz Skulls 3-D Texture Fades embossing folder and combine it with Distress inks and spray stains. I started by inking the flat side of the embossing folder with Black Soot Distress Archival Ink.  I sprayed a panel of water color paper with water and carefully placed this paper into the embossing folder. I ran the embossing folder through my Sizzix Big Shot 3 times. I took the embossed panel out of the embossing folder and cleaned the embossing folder with StazOn All-Purpose Stamp Cleaner. Next, I sprayed the panel with Tim Holtz Decayed Distress Mica Stain.  This gave it a green tinge with a hint of sparkle.  I decided to seal the card panel by dipping a foam blending pad into Distress Micro Glaze and dabbing this onto the card panel.  I glued a black cardstock matte behind the embossed panel and adhered it to a white card base. For the sentiment, I used the &qu

Relax Unplug

It was so much fun to go to the beach in October.  We headed to St. Simon's Island for Fall Break and even though it was overcast the entire weekend, we had a great time. I bought the entire Sunny Days collection and thought it would be perfect for this layout.  I combined it with some older My Mind's Eye patterned paper that I had in my stash.  The colors of both paper collections coordinated perfectly. It has been a long time since I have done a double page layout.  I decided to take it one page at a time.  I took the plaid paper and cut the frame shape using my Cricut machine.  I cut this shape into 2 pieces and used the larger piece of the page pointing downward on the main page and the smaller piece pointing to the right on the second page.  I only had small strips of the Sunny Days mermaid scales paper and gold glitter cardstock.  I used these strips along with a strip of the Indie Chic Forest paper and layered them next to the plaid paper. I also cut a circle using my Cr

Hero Arts Citrus Cards

Today I had fun playing with the Hero Arts Fresh Citrus Bold Prints background stamp and the Hero Arts Zest Wishes Stamp Set to create these fun and fresh set of cards. I started by creating the backgrounds.  I used white cardstock and stamped it with the background stamp using VersaMark Ink.  I heat embossed the panels with white embossing powder.  Then, I used a foam blending tool and blended Scattered Straw, Squeezed Lemonade, and Twisted Citron Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks to ink the card panels.  For some panels, I used only one ink and other panels I used a combination of all the inks.  I cut the inked backgrounds down to 4" x 5.25" and matte each panel on a black card base.   For one card, I used the excess strips from when I cut down the inked panels, and adhered these strips to a black card panel, leaving a little of the black background showing in between each of the strips. I stamped all the citrus fruits, leaves, flowers, and branches on white cardstock using Ver

Lovely Moment

Today's layout is based on a sketch from Christy's Beautiful Life 30 Days of Sketches Day 10 Round 7.   I love the triangular design of this layout and couldn't wait to pair it with patterned papers from the Me and My Big Ideas MAMBI Sheets Life is Rosy Paper Pad. I used a pink polka dot patterned paper as the background.  For the two triangular pieces, I cut a floral patterned piece of paper and a silver rose foiled piece of paper.  I backed these in black cardstock.  I placed these on the background page pointing towards the top.   I created a banner strip from black and white diagonal striped patterned paper and backed this in black cardstock.  I placed this banner piece across the middle of the layout.  I backed the photo in black cardstock and added a layer of red striped paper and a layer of pink polka dot paper.  I added another layer of black cardstock and adhered the photo on top of the triangular layers and banner piece.  I used a die from the Tim Holtz Thinlits M

Alcohol Inked Butterfly Cards

Do you have lots of alcohol markers that you rarely use?  I have spent a lot of money on alcohol markers only to find that I really don't enjoy coloring stamped images.  Today's beautiful cards were created while experimenting with alternate ways I can use my alcohol markers. To create the alcohol inked background shapes, I took a piece of Yupo white translucent paper that I purchased at Hobby Lobby and scribbled various shades of pink alcohol markers across the Yupo Paper.  Then, I dropped alcohol ink blending solution in various places on the paper.  I tipped the paper back and forth to allow the pink shades to mix and fill up most of the white space of the paper.  I repeated this process on another piece of Yupo paper using shades of blue alcohol markers. I allowed the paper to dry until parts of the paper felt a little tacky.  Then, I took some of my foil scraps (left over from when I use my Spellbinders Glimmer machine), and placed the scraps on top of the inked surfaces.
