Just Floating By

Today's flat shaker card features the "Make Yourself at Home" Cardmaking Kit for August 2021, a HeroArts Kit that is a Joann.com exclusive. This is the second card I have made from this fantastic card kit.  I combined the kit with the flat shaker card technique inspired by @amyrysavy. To create the background I used the Hero Arts blending brush included in the kit to blend the four reactive inks onto white cardstock. I used Versamark ink to stamp the images from the Need a Hand stamp set.  I embossed the stamped images with black embossing powder.  To color the ocean creatures and sea weed, I smeared the reactive inks onto a craft mat and used a water brush pen to watercolor the embossed images. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the stamped images. I used liquid glue to adhere the stamped images to the ink blended background.  I used Versafine Onyx Black ink to stamp the sentiment onto the background. To create the flat shaker element of the card,  I wrapped the car

Frenchie Halloween

Today’s interactive card features an image from the Simon Says Stamp Fall Frenchies stamp set and the Lawn Fawn Let’s Toast Pull Tab die set.  I stamped the witch image and colored it using alcohol markers.  I cut off the image of the dog from the pumpkin, making sure to leave its paws attached to the pumpkin.  I used the Lawn Fawn Let’s Toast die set to make the dog’s head pop out of the pumpkin. To create the scene, I cut some green grassy hillsides and adhered them to the bottom of the orange card panel.  I cut an oak tree using the Hello Bluebird Oak Tree die set and outlined the embossed lines on the tree using a brown marker.  I glued the tree on top of the grassy hillside.  I stamped and cut several leaves from the stamp set and colored them using a variety of alcohol markers.  The leaves were scattered amongst the scene. I cut the sentiment from yellow cardstock using Tim Holtz’s Alphanumeric Label dies and adhered them to the bottom of the card.  The card panel was glued to a

Escape Reality

Today's scrapbook layout documents my son playing on his Oculus.  I wanted the page to be simple and subtle, so I chose papers from the Echo Park A Boy's Life collection and coordinating cardstock colors. I started by layering up 3 patterned papers from the collection.  The inner layer was cut about an inch shorter than the rest and was matte with navy blue cardstock.  I also matte the three photos using the same navy cardstock and arranged them across the center of the page.   I chose two different fonts for the title block which was placed in the upper right corner of the layout.  I cut the word "Escape" using dies and the word "reality" was cut using my Cricut machine. I downloaded a free VR headset SVG file which I uploaded into Cricut Design Space.  It was cut using coordinating solid colors of cardstock.  The headset was popped up with foam tape to the bottom right of the layout.  I added a small block of journaling to the left of the VR headset. Glimmer Hot Foil Birthday Cards

Today's cards are part of my stash-busting series.  This is where I look around my craft room and grab a bunch of supplies that I haven't yet had the chance to use.  The results yielded two glimmer hot foiled birthday cards. I used the smooshing technique to apply Mustard Seed and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide inks onto white card panels.  After the panels were dry, I used the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System along with the Scattered Flowers and Diamonetta Background Glimmer plates to add Aura Glimmer Hot foil to the card panels.   The card panels were mounted onto pink cardstock.  I used the same Aura foil to glimmer the Happy Birthday sentiment onto white cardstock.   I cut the sentiment using a Momenta nesting border die.  I used a slightly larger border die to cut a sentiment border from the pink cardstock.  I cut pink and yellow flowers using the Sizzix Spring Things die set.  I ran the flowers and sentiment border through the Project Life Adventure embossing folder.  I

Embossed Shaker Cards

Today's cards focus on using items from my stash.  I wanted to use a variety of supplies in my craft room that I have not yet used or haven't used in quite a while.   I didn't have a plan in mind, but I know I wanted to start by using the WendyVecchi Country Flowers Make Art Stamp, Die, and Stencil set.  I stamped the outlines of the flower, leaves, and butterfly using Versafine Onyx Black ink onto white cardstock.  I filled in the images by stamping with a variety of colors of Memento inks.  I cut out the images using the coordinating dies. I matched the stamped images with different colors of scrap paper. The background panels were embossed using Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folders.  I adhered the back panels to white card bases using double-sided tape.  For the front panel of the shaker cards, I die cut a window out of the cardstock panels using a border die.  I embossed these panels using Cricut Cuttlebug embossing folders.  I used double-sided tape to adhere a piec
